National Speaking Tour with ICAP’s Elizabeth Ribalta 25 May – 6 June 2022
CSC is delighted to welcome Elizabeth Ribalta Rubiera to Britain in May for a tour of CSC local groups and to participate in the CSC Annual General Meeting.
Elizabeth is the new Northern European Officer for the Insitituto Cubano por Amistad con los Pueblos (ICAP, or the Cuban Friendship Institute), and will be our first visitor from Cuba for almost three years. The last time we welcomed Cuban guests was in November 2019, when 14 representatives form the Cuban trade union movement attended the Unions for Cuba solidarity conference.
She has a wealth of experience of international relations, having worked at ICAP since 2014. Her roles include United States group coordinator in the North America division, where she led international volunteer work brigades and worked with the Pastors for Peace Caravan which brings material aid and delegations from the US each year. She also worked in the ICAP department which looks after foreign students, including working directly with young students studying at the Latin American Medical School (ELAM – see page 26).
She graduated from the University of Havana with a degree in Psychology in 2008 and after a number of years teaching in primary schools went on to be a researcher at the Centre for Youth Studies into the education and employability of adolescents and youth. She will be touring local CSC groups in England, Wales and Scotland from 24 May–6 June and speaking at the CSC AGM on 4 June.
