Aleida Guevara, Che’s daughter, is a doctor of medicine at a Children’s Hospital in Havana and has also worked as a physician in Angola, Ecuador, and Nicaragua. She was interviewed about the philosophy behind universal health care in Michael Moore’s film Sicko.
Aleida also helps run two homes for disabled children in Cuba and two more for refugee children with domestic problems. As a paediatrician she has also been involved in medical support for communities in areas in Cuba devastated
by floods and hurricanes.
She has been an advocate for human rights and debt relief for developing nations and has participated in conferences, debates and festivals all around the world.
Aleida is an outspoken critic of the US blockade of Cuba, now in its 55th year. The blockade causes huge difficulties to the Cuban economy, depriving the Cuban people of basic necessities such as pharmaceuticals.
Attempts by Barack Obama to improve relations between Cuba and the USA are under threat from President Donald Trump who promises to ‘defeat Cuba’.

Mae Aleida Guevara, merch Che, yn feddyg mewn ysbyty plant yn Hafana, ac wedi gweithio fel doctor yn Angola, Ecuador a Nicaragua. Cafodd ei chyfweld am hawliau iechyd Cuba yn ffilm Michael Moore Sicko.
Mae Aleida hefyd yn helpu rhedeg dau gartref i blant anabl yn Cuba, a dau arall am blant ymfudwyr gyda phroblemau domestig. Fel paediatregydd mae hi hefyd yn cefnogi cymunedau mewn ardaloedd o Cuba sydd wedi eu dinistrio gan lifogydd a chorwyntoedd.
Mae hi wedi ymgyrchu dros hawliau dynol a dileu dyledion gwledydd sy’n datblygu ac wedi cymryd rhan mewn cynadleddau, trafodaethau a gwyliau o amgylch y byd.
Mae Aleida yn feirniadol o flocâd yr USA ar Cuba, gwarchae sy’n bod ers 55 mlynedd. Mae’r blocâd yn achosi problemau difrifol i economi Cuba gan atal pobol Cuba rhag cael pethau hanfodol fel meddyginiaethau.
Mae ymdrechion Barack Obama i wella’r perthynas rhwng yr USA a Cuba o dan fygythiad gan Donald Trump sydd yn addo ‘trechu Cuba’.
