North London Cuba Solidarity Campaign with Sands Cinema Club present:
The War on Cuba
2 short films, episodes 5 & 6 of the series ‘The War on Cuba’ will be introduced by speaker Keith Bolender and followed by a Q&A with Keith.
‘The War on Cuba’ episodes 5 & 6, presented by Cuban journalist Liz Oliva Fernandez explore the root causes of the economic crisis, the protests of 11 July 2021, interviewing people in Cuba, and exposes the disconnect between supposed US policy and Cuban reality.
Keith Bolender is a freelance journalist who worked for more than 10 years with the Toronto Star. He is the author of Voices From the Other Side: An Oral History of Terrorism Against Cuba (Pluto, 2010), Cuba Under Siege: American Policy, the Revolution and Its People (2013) and Manufacturing the Enemy: the Media War against Cuba (2019). He is a member of the Institute for Public Accuracy on their Roster of Experts for Cuban Affairs, and lectures at the University of Toronto School of Continuing Studies.
