Off The List: Against Trump's War on Cuba!

Friends Meeting House, Ship Street, Brighton, BN1 1AF
Tuesday, 23 September 2025, 7:00pm
Since the 1960s Cuba has suffered a crushing economic, commercial and financial blockade by the United States, losing the island $500,000 every hour while causing devastating shortages and preventable deaths.
Since 2021, Trump’s false designation of Cuba as a sponsor of terrorism has added to the pressure. As he ramps up his economic war, the campaign to get Cuba #OffTheList has never been more urgent.
Join our panel, in person at Brighton Friends' Meeting House or online, to discuss the background to Trump's economic war, the effects on Cuba, the UK's responsibilities and what we can do.
Speakers:
- Georgina Andrews (UNISON)
- Radhika Desai (Geopolitical Economy Research Group)
- Ann Hallam (Brighton Cuba Solidarity Campaign)
- Brian Leishman MP (Liberation)
- Plus: guest speakers from the Cuban Embassy and the General Federation of Trade Unions
- Chair: Calvin Tucker (Morning Star)
This event is co-hosted by Morning Star Sussex Readers and Supporters, Liberation and Brighton Cuba Solidarity Campaign, with support from the General Federation of Trade Unions, Unite Brighton & Surrounds and UNISON University of Sussex.
