US denies visas to wives of Five, again

Campaign News | Thursday, 24 July 2008

For the ninth time, the US Interests Section has denied an entry visa to Olga Salanueva, the wife of Rene Gonzalez, one of the five anti-terrorist Cuban fighters unfairly held in US prisons.

On July 16, Salanueva was summoned to the US office along with Adriana Perez, the wife of Gerardo Hernandez, also one of The Five.

They had requested an interview since January to ask for a visa to visit their husbands in prison, according to antiterroristas.cu website.

Olga Salanueva was denied a visa on the grounds that she was deported from the US in November 2000, and she was also declared, in written, "permanently ineligible for a visa," the source added.

In the case of Adriana, who also filed her request for the ninth time, the answer is pending.
