Other Events As Cuba celebrates 50 years of its Revolution this tour offers a chance to see what this has meant for women in the country.

Background

The FMC is one of the largest women's organisations in the world with more than four million members aged 14 and above. Its work has contributed to the fact that women now make up 42% of elected parliamentary positions in Cuba and 38% of senior government positions.

Carolina Amador arrives directly from the FMC’s Congress and will bring the latest thoughts on the challenges facing women in Cuba today.

Gilda Chacon is a representative of the CTC, (Cuba's TUC) and will bring news on the recent changes to Cuban social security and workers rights in Cuba.
