Britons rank second in tourists visiting Cuba

Cuba's office of statistics has released figures on the total number of visitors to the Caribbean island in August 2013.
Canada tops the list with 55,838 tourists in August alone, with the British the next largest group of international visitors numbering 13,172 for the month.
In total, 186,252 tourists visited Cuba in August, up 3.8% on 2012 figures.
Tourist numbers in August break down as follows:

9. Venezuela, 4,370

17. Brazil, 1,023
18. Switzerland, 862
19. Other Countries, 52,466
While Canadian visitors were up around 10% (5,000) on last year, British visitors dropped by 4% (600), in common with most European countries which witnessed a reduction in numbers compared to 2012. The majority of other Latin American countries, such as Chile, Panama, Brazil and Venezuela saw a marked increase in tourism to Cuba.
This leaves overall figures for August up by 3.8% on last year.
