Translator Needed - Granma International English Department
The basic work of the department consists of translating articles into English from Spanish for the weekly printed edition of the paper (16 pages), as well as daily news items for the website.
Essential requirements:
A strong commitment to Granma’s mission, reflected in willingness to learn, work hard and function as part of a team
The ability to translate accurately and quickly
Basic computer skills
The work week is Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm, although some flexibility exists. Extra hours are occasionally required in the event of breaking news.
Basic furnished apartment is provided.
Monthly salary is 400 CUP and 120 CUC.
As a temporary resident, you are eligible for public healthcare services.
Vacation consists of 30 paid days per year, to be scheduled in conjunction with the department. Six months on the job are expected before any vacation is taken.
A minimum commitment of one year is expected.
Granma will handle application to secure work permit and temporary residency.
