Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez confirms arrival of donation from the People's Republic of China, to contribute to our battle against the new coronavirus.

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla confirmed, on his official Twitter account, the arrival to the island of a donation sent by the government of the People's Republic of China, to contribute to our battle against COVID-19.

"Our government and people are grateful. This is indicative of the close friendship that unites us. In times of pandemic, solidarity and cooperation save lives," Rodríguez tweeted.

Previously, the first secretary of the Party Central Committee, Army General Raul Castro, and President of the Republic Miguel Díaz-Canel, had conveyed an expression of solidarity to China.

In a statement, President Xi Jinping stressed how, since the beginning of the epidemic, Cuban authorities have expressed their support, an attitude that demonstrates "the deep traditional friendship shared by the two countries."

Cuba, Xi Jinping noted, has maintained exchanges and cooperation that reflect respect and support for China’s prevention and control efforts.

His Excellency Mr. Chen Xi, ambassador of the People's Republic of China in Cuba, and the Deputy Minister of Public Health Luis Fernando Navarro, signed delivery documentation for the donation that included 2,000 face masks, 10,000 surgical masks, 2,000 disposable protective suits, 500 infrared thermometers, 2,000 protective eyewear and the same number of surgical gloves, isolation slippers, and a donation, from the Yutong company, of 10,000 suits and the same number of face masks. In addition, the Embassy of the Republic of China presented the Ministry of Public Health with 200,000 dollars to support the fight against the new coronavirus.

Luis Fernando Navarro thanked China for the contribution on behalf of the Cuban people, and Chen Xi said that his country reaffirms the indestructible friendship shared by the two nations.
