Condolences on the passing of Larry Herman

Larry Herman

On behalf of the Cuba Solidarity Campaign in the UK we would like to offer our deepest sympathy to Larry’s family, colleagues and friends on his passing last week.

Larry had been a long term supporter of the Cuba Solidarity Campaign for many years and was the national delegate representing the National Union of Journalists on the Executive Committee of CSC.

Larry was a central figure in the London Freelance Branch of the NUJ where he was a vocal supporter of many issues including photographer’s rights, the protection of photographic archives and many international issues.

Larry never erred from showing his support for the people of Cuba. His enthusiasm for celebrating their achievements and his ongoing commitment to the struggle against the US Blockade took Larry to Cuba on a number of occasions where he chronicled the lives of Cuban workers. He collaborated with the Cuban trade union movement and the Cuban CTC hold a collection of Larry’s works.

Larry has left a lasting legacy that will continue to inspire many in our efforts on behalf of the just cause that is Cuba. The finest tribute we can pay is to live up to his deep sense of commitment to solidarity and social justice.
