Camilo Guevara March, the son of revolutionary leader Che Guevara, has died from a stroke during a trip to Venezuela.

The third of Che's four children, Camilo was born in Cuba in 1965 and became a lawyer by profession. He dedicated his life to the preservation of his father's legacy and was director of the Che Centre in Havana, an institution for disseminating Che's work and ideas.

The Cuba Solidarity Campaign sends its condolences to the family and friends of Camilo, and especially his sister Aleida Guevara, a dear friend of the campaign who has visited the UK on several occasions.

The president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, expressed his sorrow for the death of Camilo in a message on his twitter account on Tuesday morning:“With deep sorrow we say goodbye to Camilo, Che's son and promoter of his ideas, as director of the Che Center, which preserves part of his father's extraordinary legacy. Hugs to his mother, Aleida, his widow and daughters, and the entire Guevara March family," the president wrote on his Twitter account on Tuesday.
