UNISON young members show their support for Cuba Solidarity Campaign
Campaign News | Wednesday, 7 December 2022
UNISON Young Members overwhelmingly passed a motion at their recent conference, instructing regional young members groups to show support for the Cuba Solidarity Campaign.
The motion, proposed by UNISON North West region, emphasised the importance of understanding, and practicing, international solidarity and spoke about how the British trade union movement could learn from their counterparts in Cuba, where organised workers have a strong and defined say in the management of their workplaces and in society more broadly.
The motion spoke of the importance of the work that the Cuba Solidarity Campaign does - from sending material aid to Cuba to help the nation deal with the effects of the US blockade, to working to dispel some of the myths around Cuba - and instructed young members to encourage regions and branches to affiliate to the campaign and send members on the Young Trade Unionists May Day Brigade.
