Alzheimer’s documentary at AGM in June
Campaign News | Friday, 9 May 2025
On Saturday 14 June, Teresita’s Dream: Cuba’s battle against Alzheimer’s will have a private screening at the CSC AGM in London. Entry is free and all are welcome.
The film looks at Cuba’s scientific breakthrough in treating Alzheimer’s disease. The drug is currently going through clinical trials and has the potential to improve the health and wellbeing of the over 50 million people living with dementia around the world. It could be an absolutely revolutionary medicine.
The documentary will be followed by a discussion with the director and producer Daniel Montero Pupo, direct from Havana. Daniel is a Cuban journalist, producer and director with the award winning media team Belly of the Beast, where he was co-winner of a One World Media Award and a Telly Award for his work on the acclaimed documentary series The War on Cuba.
AGM highlights and guest speakers
Other highlights of this year’s AGM include guest speakers Yanet Hernández Pérez, Governor of Havana and Ismara Vargas Walter Cuban Ambassador, plus films showing Cuba Vive medical aid in use.
With the re-election of Donald Trump and appointment of pro-blockade hardliner Marco Rubio in the US, the AGM provides an opportunity to discuss how to confront the new challenges and threats to Cuban sovereignty. There will be a review of the last twelve months’ work, an update on the Cuba Vive appeal, and debates on motions to agree future campaign priorities including rejecting renewed attacks on Cuba’s medical brigades, plus events to mark the centenary of Fidel Castro’s birth in 2026.
The event is free and all are welcome (although only CSC members and affiliates can vote at the AGM).
There’s no need to register or confirm in advance unless you are representing an organisation, but if you would like more information you can call 0207 490 5715, or reply to this email.
We hope to see you on 14 June
