In the wake of renewed threats against Cuba from the Trump administration, the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Cuba has released a statement calling on the UK government to stand firmly with the Cuban people by condemning US aggression.

The statement expresses "deep concern over the growing threat to international law" in the wake of the US attack against Venezuela and "open threats made by Donald Trump and other senior US politicians against Cuba and other sovereign nations." It goes on to say that "any attack on Cuba would constitute a flagrant breach of international law and the UN charter."

It highlighted the long history of positive relations between the UK and Cuba, with the UK consistently supporting Cuba's resolution at the UN calling for an end to the blockade.

The statement comes just a few days after the APPG wrote to Prime Minister Keir Starmer demanding the government explicitly rules out UK support for any US military assault on Cuba.
