Cuba picks seasoned diplomat as new ambassador to Britain

Former envoy to Brussels takes up post
Havana sept. 23 Cuba's communist government has picked a seasoned diplomat to represent Havana as its new ambassador to Britain, according to the official Granma newspaper.
Rene Mujica Cantelar, 56, is a history graduate of the University of Havana and served as Cuba's ambassador to Belgium from 1996 to 2002. The diplomat has also represented Cuba at the European Union.
Mujica Cantelar more recently served as the subdirector of the European office at Cuba's foreign affairs ministry.
