75 delegates from 23 countries pledge to work together in defence of Cuban sovereignty
75 delegates from 23 European Solidarity organisations met in Istanbul on the weekend of October 7-8th for their biannual conference and pledged to coordinate better in their common struggle against the US blockade.
A final declaration put fighting the Bush Plan for Cuba at the top of the priorities for the year ahead. They also agreed to coordinate responses on a European level to major events regarding Cuba.
The Conference also sent a get well message to Cuban President Fidel Castro.
Rob Miller, director, Bernard Reagan, secretary and Steve Wilkinson, editor of CubaSi magazine, attended on behalf of CSC.
Cuban Institute of Friendship (ICAP) President Sergio Corrieri led the Cuban delegation that included Elio Gamez, European Director, Osvaldo Martinez from the Cuban Centre for World Economy Studies and Ernesto Gomez Abascal, the Cuban ambassador to Turkey.
CSC director Rob Miller showed the film of the European Solidarity Conference that took place in London in February and urged the other European groups to work hard to build links with unions in their own countries.
