65 Years of Solidarity
Now is an exciting time to be going to Cuba and the brigade gives a unique opportunity to speak to Cubans from all walks of life, see the reality of life under the ongoing US blockade, and learn about the country’s economic and social development.
This Solidarity Brigade will visit Playa Girón, the site of the Bay of Pigs invasion and celebrate 65 years of ICAP, the Cuban international friendship institute.
The 2025 brigade programme includes volunteer work (mainly agricultural) in a rural area outside Havana, including at La Bugambilia Ecoproject, as well as visits to museums and historical sites, plus talks on the current challenges of the US blockade, Cuba-US relations, the economy, and international solidarity.
The brigade includes a visit to the cultural house Casa de las Americas to meet Cuban personalities and writers, and attend an evening of poetry and song in tribute to Fidel Castro’s legacy in the 100th year since his birth. There is also a visit to the Hermanos Saiz Association (AHS) the national youth arts organisation and cultural space for young artists in Havana, and to the Korimakao community cultural project.
The programme includes participation in a one day event to celebrate 65 years of ICAP, the Cuban international friendship institute, and a Friendship Sports Marathon with opportunity to exchange with sports celebrities about the development of sport on the island. While in Havana to celebrate New Year’s Day, there will be a tour of the city and a special gala of the National Ballet of Cuba. With free time to explore the capital and soak up the culture.
There are optional additional day excursions (additional cost) to the the nighttime canon ceremony in Havana, limestone valley of Viñales and boat ride inside a cave, Las Terrazas the ecocommunity in the Sierra del Rosario, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and San Juan River, the Tropicana nightclub and to the beaches east of Havana.

"It was a life-changing experience, a really wonderful, rich time in every sense. Humbling in the face of the blockade and its consequences – I will definitely go again, and encourage others to do so!” past brigadista
