Rodriguez denounces US blockade costs Cuba millions of dollars a day

Cuba's Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez on Saturday denounced the damages caused by the US blockade against his country, at a cost of around 12 and 15 million dollars a day.
On his official Twitter account, the foreign minister said that the damages caused by Washington's aggression in the last five years have resulted in losses of 17 billion dollars.
The US policy harms all areas of the economy and represents the greatest obstacle to fight against the Covid-19 pandemic in the country, the FM assured.
Executive Order 3447, signed on February 3, 1962 by then President John F. Kennedy, made official the imposition of what is considered a violation of human rights and the main impediment to Cuba's development.
According to Cuba's Foreign Ministry, the accumulated damages in six decades have exceeded 144.4 billion dollars, and from April 2019 to March 2020, the US action provoked losses in the order of 5.5 billion dollars, a record figure for a single year.
Cuban authorities denounced the tightening of hostility amid the Covid-19 pandemic since the blockade made it impossible for Cuba to acquire medical supplies, pharmaceuticals and technologies necessary to face the health crisis.
There is a worldwide rejection of this policy expressed in the 28 consecutive votes that called, almost unanimously, for its elimination in the United Nations General Assembly.
